love quotes

"i thought you had a boyfriend?"
i think that phrase has been said to me at least 5 times in the last week.
so let me be very clear.
i don't have a boyfriend.
i have not been seriously dating anyone since last may.
(that's 10 months of singleness ladies and gents.)
and yes, you may set me up with your friend.
i make no guaratees it will work out though.
it probably won't. ;)

don't mind me,
i'm cynical today about dating.
i have been on quite a few dates lately.
with some really great guys.
and i'm exhausted!
sometimes i just want to throw in the towel and be single forever!
dating is a LOT of work.
getting to know someone is a LOT of work.
i find myself missing old relationships and the comfort of people who already know me...
but who knows, maybe tomorrow i'll love dating again.
hormones, what can you do? :)

soooo,
in order to balance out my cynical feelings towards love today,
and inspired by bri over at besos by bri,
i thought i'd list some of my favorite love quotes from movies.

"I love that you get cold when it’s 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle in your nose when you’re looking at me like I’m nuts. I love that after I spend day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it’s not because I’m lonely, and it’s not because it’s New Year’s Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.”
When Harry Met Sally

"You have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on."
Pride and Prejudice

"So it's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be really hard. And we're gonna have to work at this every day. But I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, you and me, every day."
The Notebook

awww now doesn't that do a heart good?
i feel better already.

on a sunday

leap day was a bust.
and by that i mean i didn't propose to anyone.
nor did i go skinnydipping or anything else rebellious or strange.
maybe in 4 years...

speaking of skinnydipping,
i made a bucket list. (see pages)
well, i'm making a bucket list.
it's a work in progress.
and yes, skinnydipping in the ocean made the list.
this concept sounds both fascinating and repulsive to me all at once.
so why not try it? ;)

on another note, i went on a 5 or 6 mile bike ride yesterday.
the length is a little fuzzy to me.
now i am not in great shape.
by that i mean, i haven't been to the gym since school started in september.
my bad.
so the endurance factor... not so great right now.
but of course i sucked it up and tried to look cool and not tired anyways,
because that's what you do on a bike ride with a boy!
but here's the thing.
he was on a tough looking manly bike.
and i was on this:
my beach cruiser.
isn't she a beauty???
but what she is not, is tough!
we were riding in dirt roads, and rocks, and i swear at one point sand!

so suffice to say it's sunday morning now,
i need to get out of bed and shower and go to church.
and all i can think is,
there's something wrong with my legs!
and my butt!
sigh.
the things we do for...

leap day!

it's leap day!
i can't remember if i even really payed attention to the last time we had a leap day.
but it seems like a day worth observing.
i mean who doesn't love a reason to celebrate!

in my mind i connect leap day with things like full moons and witching hours and "anything goes".
a crazy day of the unexpected.
i'm not sure why, or if that is at all accurate,
but it feels right to me.

upon further research,
women can propose to men on leap day!

what a novel idea that only comes every 4 years.
unfortunately, or fortunately, i have no one who i want to propose to.
so on to the the next one.
(on to the next one, on to the next one... thank you jay-z)

upon further research,
i see nothing else interesting about this day.
so i'll make my own traditions!
i'm still in the brainstorming phases but i'll let you know how it goes!

now get out there and celebrate!
happy leap day.

wanderlust.

i think i have a wanderlust gene.

i think about travel, a lot.
i research travel plans, a lot.
i dream and dream and dream about moving to europe.
sometimes i think paris.
sometimes spain.
sometimes austria or prague.
often italy.

because i am italian.
half.
no a quarter.
i don't know i get confused.
but i am. though i look about the opposite of it.

that's beside the point though.
i want to live in europe for a year so badly.
i will eventually. i know i will.

here's the problem:

my nephews.
they are 2 and 3.
and i have a niece on the way.

i love them more than i thought possible.
i LOVE being an important person in their lives.
so how do i up and leave for a year?!?
i just honestly don't know if i could.
what if they forgot about me? :(

so in the meantime...
i am planning a europe trip wth my friend.
hopefully in april.
and TODAY we find out if he got the time off work approved.

please please please let him get the time off approved.
